The conference to be held on November 19 will be attended by United Nations secretary-general Kofi Annan, the President said this while talking to UN Children's Fund executive director Ann Veneman, who called on him.
The President thanked the executive director for Unicef's assistance and its intensified and most valuable relief assistance in response to the earthquake disasters.
The President explained that due to the strong family system, the majority of orphans were being looked after by their extended families.
However, there were some children whose families could not be identified at this time and the government was strictly safeguarding them in hospitals and unless their true relatives were found, they would be looked after in children's facilities modelled after the very well run SOS villages in Pakistan.
The Unicef executive director, who had just returned from a tour of affected areas, stated it was necessary to see the situation to assess the magnitude of the disaster and needs required to cope with the situation.
She had been impressed by the response of the Pakistan military and civil authorities. She assured of all possible support on behalf of her agency.
